Hey farm friend!

I know you’ve seen this too — semi trucks on the interstate full of livestock. 

You may have noticed that you don’t see chickens on those trucks. But don’t be deceived. They’re sharing the interstate with you too. They’re just hidden behind shade cloth curtains.

I know you don’t love that.

I don’t love it either.

But you can use your food dollar to support something you CAN love.

You can LOVE that our chickens never leave the farm after they arrive here at just 1-2 days old.

You can LOVE that each one has its feet in the grass with fresh air and sunshine right up until it gets a blessing from me and is dispatched for butchering. No transportation stress!

Sidebar … Dispatch is the term I like to use for that last moment. The Oxford dictionary defines it as “to send off to a destination or for a purpose.” I like that.

And you can LOVE that when you buy chickens from us, you’re supporting a series of local businesses with your food dollar.

We purchase the chicks from the closest source we have access to. It’s a family-owned, 4th generation hatchery in Cincinnati. They take excellent care of our chicks (and us).

Once the babies arrive here, we support a local feed store and a local hardware store. I see them so often, they’re like family!

Another sidebar … I thought there were more local businesses to list. I literally just went to my farm expenses spreadsheet and looked it up 😂 But there’s so much beauty in that. Raising farm fresh chickens and selling them locally is a delightfully simple process.

And once they’re full grown, I don’t load them on a truck to travel halfway across the country. We get to butcher them right here on the farm. Then put them directly into your cooler and the trunk of your car. Now that’s farm fresh!

Getting in on this local food action is easy:

1. Pre-order is required.But you won’t pay until pick-up day. The price is $7 per pound and most weigh 5-7 pounds. 

2. Be sure you get a confirmation email that notes the pick-up date and the quantity you ordered.

3. Come for pick-up day on Sunday, July 19 from 2-4:00 pm at our farm, 1501 N. 600 W., Lebanon, Indiana, and enjoy the fresh air, sunshine and festivity! You’ll pick out what chickens you want. First come, first serve.
